A basis point is 1% of 1%. In other words a basis point is 1/100th of 1%. Basis point is a unit of measurement used to describe the percentage change or rate of change in value of financial instrument.

1 BPS = 1/100th or 0.01 of 1%

10 BPS = 10/100th 0r 0.1 of 1%

50 BPS = 50/100th or 0.5 of 1%

100 BPS = 100% 0r 1.0 0f 1%

IF 1% is 100 BPS, it then means that 100% would be 100 * 100 = 10,000 BPS.

Suppose you want to get 20 basis point of a number 70: $\frac{20 ~*~ 70 }{10000} = ~ 0.14$

Suppose you want to get 20% (NOT BPS) of a number 70: $\frac{20 ~ * ~ 70}{100} = 14$
